Jose Mesa Released

Danny Knobler is reporting in his blog that Jose Mesa has been released and that Fernando Rodney will be activited from the disabled list on Tuesday, the first game of the Rangers series. Most Tiger fans will be happy to see Mesa and his 12.34 ERA gone and many were mystified as to why they picked him up in the first place. The Tigers will have to eat the remainder of his 2.5 million dollar salary.

Knobler is also reporting that Carlos Guillen and Brandon Inge will likely be ready to play on Tuesday. I liked having infante's bat in the line-up but I thought there were a couple of balls that got by him that Inge probably would have fielded. Infante is proving to be a valuable utility man as he has played multiple games at 5 different positions and is batting .315. Obviously getting Guillen back in the line-up instead of Neifi Perez is great news.
